Ah, the romance. The ambiance. The rolling hills of the Italian country side and the flowing canals of Venice. Its a picture perfect setting for a romantic evening with the hubby. Too bad we couldn’t actually go there.
Instead, we put the kids to bed. They fell asleep quickly since they were running fevers and had been sick all day.
We turned on some Pavarotti and made the most delicious Stromboli I have ever had. Recipe is here. To finish off the night, we cuddled up on the couch with a pint of Spumoni Gelato from the local Italian deli and turned on “Under the Tuscan Sun.”
I come to find out that this movie is based on a book of the same name about a woman who’s husband takes everything in the devorce after he cheats on her, so she take a trip to Italy where she buys a run down villa in Tuscany on a whim. After a few failed romances she finally falls in love again.
It was very enjoyable. Even my husband liked it. I found myself thinking what it would be like to just drop every part of your old life and start new in a different country. Crazy!!! I guess it works for some people, but maybe not for me. Not alone any way. 🙂
So, next time you need a date night with your hubby but can’t get out of the house, or can’t afford to go out to dinner. Stay home and have a great night.
